DENTAL CROWNS AND BRIDGES

Dental crown is recommended when teeth suffered a significant loss off its structure. A dental crown will basically reshape the outside surface of the teeth restoring their normal shape and size as well as their basic function, mastication. A dental crown can also be fitted onto a dental implant, conferring it the shape and functional structure of a natural tooth.
Dental bridge is a fix dental restoration aimed to have missing teeth replaced. On its extremities, a dental bridge shall lean against the drill polished teeth or the implants via the dental crowns. Artificial teeth shall thus be created centrally acting as a prosthesis for the edentulous areas.
Materials used for dental crowns and bridges cover a wide range. Every patient is a special case, with different teeth structure. This is why the treatment plan shall be made only after a detailed clinical check up.

Ceramic crown on metal frame

This is a combination between the mechanical resistence of metal and the aesthetic qualities of ceramics. The metal frame is fully covered in ceramics, with no differences between the prosthetic restoration and the remaining natural teeth, and optimum aesthetic results. But with the age also comes the gingival recession which makes the metal margin at the tooth base become visible as a thin dark color line.

Metal – ceramic crowns are indicated for lateral teeth

Ceramic crown on zirconium

This is the ultimate method thanks to the zirconium oxide properties. Zirconium oxide is fully biologically compatible with the human body, it is highly resistant, causing no irritations of the surrounding tissues, it will not produce the unpleasant metal taste, it is lighter than metal crowns, and, very important, it is white colored in a white tone similar to own natural teeth, which confers a special aesthetic look, highly superior to metal – ceramic restorations. Though recently discovered, ceramic crowns on zirconium are more and more replacing the metal – ceramic crowns with the intent to eliminate metal from the mouth and improve the aesthetic aspect with an increasingly more natural one.

In performing zirconium based works, a dental technician will be computer assisted via the CAD/CAM technology (Computer Assisted Design/Computer Assisted Manufacturing).
Ceramic crowns on zirconium are indicated for the restoration of anterior and lateral teeth.

E-Max pressed ceramic crowns

Pressed ceramic crowns are manufactured without a metal frame, they are highly resistant to fractures and translucent (highly aesthetic). This is the highest level of aesthetics. Their translucidity is similar to own natural teeth and the contact with the gums is done only via ceramics. E-Max crowns are the ideal option for patients with allergies to various metals. They are used mostly in frontal teeth.
