What is an E-Max CERAMIC crown?
E-Max ceramic crowns are mostly preferred for their special, longer lasting, aesthetic qualities, combined with extra strength and durability. This type of ceramic crown is made from a single block of lithium disilicate ceramic and is considered to be the best option of ceramic crown from dental aesthetics point of view. It is considered to be the most aesthetic option from all ceramic crowns because there is no metal alloy base with this crown which means no unsightly looking grey line around the gum line. On a general base, with the correct approach of a complex treatment scheme, E-Max ceramic crowns are idicated for the frontal teeth, whereas zirconia ceramic crowns are fit for side teeth. Zirconium is also indicated for front teeth specially in patients with dental abrasion and bruxism.
Advantages of an E-Max crown :
E-Max crowns are considered to be the best match with your own natural teeth. The transparent colour and lifelike shape ensures that it is unlikely to be noticed amongst your own natural teeth. They are the best option for front teeth.
Best looks with minimum thickness (the thickness of these crowns is similar to dental facets).
Maximum precision and excellent fitting. Polishing is done via the CAD-CAM technology system (computer aided fitting) so errors are practically eliminated.
Putting out allergy risk which might be caused by a series of metals used in prosthestic works skeletals.
They are strong, long lasting and unlikely to crack or fracture as compared to many other types of crowns. The ceramic used for this type of crown is a special one (lithium disilicate) which a a very tough material.
How is an E-Max crown fitted?
E-Max dental works are performed almost similarly with other types of dental works, however with a series of special features.
On a general base, this involves 2 stages:
First stage, tooth preparation. The tooth is cleaned and then reshaped to a special shape and size using a small drill.
Second stage: the impression is taken of your tooth, followed by several crown fitting checkings. This procedure involves the use of a mould filled with dental putty which you will be asked to bite into. The impression left by your teeth is used by a dental lab as a cast which is then used in the fabrication of your E-Max crown.
Making one or more ceramic crowns might involve initial stages and treatments of the targeted teeth, based on the existing status.
Generally, this type of ceramic crowns is made in maximum 10-12 days from the moment when the final teeth impression is taken, also depending on the complexity of the dental work. The patient must know that all along the execution period of the zirconia or the E-Max crown he or she will get to wear high quality, functional and aesthetic temporary crowns.
